Kiddie Academy® Completes Nearly 8,500 Random Acts of Kindness

Last week, Academies across the country celebrated Random Acts of Kindness, an initiative hosted by the Random Acts of Kindness Foundation that encourages people across the nation to focus on how they can spread kindness within their communities.

“Random Acts of Kindness Week highlighted the power of everyday moments that bring joy,” states Kiddie Academy of Urbana. “Our students learned that even the smallest gestures can brighten someone’s day, while participating adults were reminded to appreciate and share these sparks of positivity. By championing Random Acts of Kindness, we showcase a culture of generosity, teamwork, and care.”

Together, Kiddie Academy^® was able to complete 8,481 acts of kindness that ranged from things like children sharing their toys with one another, to surprising their educator with a sweet treat or helping set up the classroom. Many Academies also took Random Acts of Kindness beyond the classroom through partnerships with local organizations such as assisted living and retirement facilities, hospitals, and charities. A few that stand out include:

Kiddie Academy of Bothell not only completed the most acts of kindness this year (734 total!), but they also donated shampoo, body wash, and toothbrushes to a local homeless shelter.
Kiddie Academy of Paradise Hills created Valentine’s Day cards and treats for the residents of Fountain Hill Assisted Living.
Kiddie Academy of Robbinsville collected more than 300 essential items including toiletries, baby supplies, hats, scarves, and mittens for NJ Rise, a social support center in central New Jersey. They also sent more than 50 cards and videos to the residents of Meadow Lakes Retirement Village.
Kiddie Academy of Sunterra organized a special event at Carriage Inn Senior Assisted Living Facility, during which the children performed and worked on creative craft projects alongside the residents.

Participating in Random Acts of Kindness is also a unique way to integrate character education, which fosters important character-building cornerstones including respect, sharing, manners, friendship, and compassion.

“Character education is essential to the overall development of the child,” said Kiddie Academy of Prosper. “When we highlight values such as empathy, respect, gratitude, responsibility and emphasize the impact of these values, we not only help children develop a sense of self-worth, but we also help them see that we can all contribute to making the world a better place.”

In celebration of Acts of Kindness Day on February 17, we are also pleased to announce Kiddie Academy of Sunterra, who completed 323 acts, as the winner of a $1,500 donation to their nonprofit of choice!
