At Kiddie Academy®, we believe children learn best through direct experiences. This is true in regard to our curriculum, as well as how we teach important life lessons such as giving back to the community. We’re always impressed by the unique ways our Academies incorporate philanthropy into their programming, which is why we’re taking this opportunity to spotlight two recent events hosted by Kiddie Academy of Gaithersburg and Kiddie Academy of Darien.
Kiddie Academy of Gaithersburg’s Art Show Charity Auction
This month, Kiddie Academy of Gaithersburg, Maryland hosted its eighth annual Art Show Charity Auction to raise funds for MED13L Foundation, which aims to spread awareness, provide family support, and advance medical research in search of a cure for MED13L syndrome. Kiddie Academy of Gaithersburg chose this charity in honor of one of their students, showcasing how support can be given both on a local and national level.
The auction was overflowing with vibrant crafts that incorporated various artistic techniques and the individual skills of different age groups. Each child proudly presented the unique artwork they had been working on throughout the summer, and local businesses generously contributed items to the auction to boost the Academy’s fundraising efforts. Families participated by “auctioning” their child’s artwork, raising a total of $2,222 that was donated to the foundation.
Adding to the excitement, the Art Show Charity Auction was combined with a culture-themed International Night. Families were enthusiastic about getting involved, volunteering to create booths and sharing authentic artifacts, food, and knowledge that represented their culture or a place that that held a special place in their hearts.
The event was a huge success, teaching valuable lessons not only about philanthropy, but also about supporting each other’s individuality.
Kiddie Academy of Darien’s Summer Fundraiser
Earlier this summer, Kiddie Academy of Darien, Illinois hosted a fundraiser benefiting Family Promise, an organization that delivers innovative solutions for family homelessness including prevention, shelter, and stabilization services.
The fundraiser was a fun, engaging experience for children who got the opportunity to meet the popular TV character, Bluey. Families had the option to pay $5 per child to get their picture taken with Bluey and all proceeds from the photo-op were donated to Family Promise. In addition, the joyous event was filled with many outdoor activities including a bean bag toss, tattoo station, hopscotch, dance-mode area, and sweet treats from Kona Ice Truck.
Big thanks to these Academies for their efforts! Kiddie Academy is committed to giving back to the community and making a positive impact on the lives of children and their families. If your Academy held a successful fundraiser or supported the community in some way, tell us about it here.
