At Kiddie Academy, we aim to nurture well-rounded individuals who not only excel academically but also possess a strong sense of responsibility and compassion. Kiddie Academy of West Caldwell is a shining example of this, and we’re proud to highlight their second annual art auction, a vibrant fundraiser benefitting St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital.
This isn’t the first time Kiddie Academy of West Caldwell has used creativity as a force for good. Owners Claudia and Andrew took over the operation in 2022 with a mission to expand the Academy’s impact beyond the classroom walls. Their vision then materialized in 2023 when they hosted their inaugural art auction to raise money for St. Jude.
“We wanted to choose a cause close to our hearts, and what could be better than helping children?” says Andrew.
In addition to raising money for an important cause, the fundraiser fostered a spirit of curiosity and giving among young learners. Over two days, an art specialist collaborated with each classroom, guiding the children in creating unique masterpieces. These works of art, bursting with color and imagination, were then proudly displayed at a silent auction open to parents and team members.
“We discussed the concept of philanthropy with the kids throughout the process,” explains Andrew. “We talked about the importance of helping others and the impact these funds would have on children battling illnesses.”
The response from the community was overwhelmingly positive. Parents, educators, and staff members participated in the bidding, creating a fun and engaging atmosphere. Plus, Claudia and Andrew generously matched the total funds raised, bringing the final donation to a heart-warming $950.
But the true value goes beyond the financial contribution. Events like this art show create a deeper connection within the Academy family and the greater community. They allow staff to showcase their creativity alongside the children and give parents the opportunity to witness their children contributing to a worthy cause.
Owners Claudia and Andrew continue to find ways to bring philanthropy into the classroom. After the success of the silent auction, the Academy brought yet another fun event to their community: a tricky tray fundraiser. Also in its second year, the tricky tray fundraiser was supported by families and the larger community, and the proceeds were donated to the Children’s Leukemia Research Association.
We are thankful to Kiddie Academy of West Caldwell for fostering a culture of responsibility and passion. By empowering children to become active participants in giving back, we’re not just nurturing young artists, we’re shaping compassionate citizens for the future.
